The Effect of Intravenous Urea Infusions on Digestibility and Rumen Vfa and Ammonia in Cattle Fed a Low Quality Diet
نویسنده
چکیده
Dry matter and cellulose digestibility were not affected by the urea infusions. The apparent nitrogen digestibility, derived from the difference between feed and faecal N, and ignoring infused N, was slightly depressed by urea infusions of from 9 to 34 g N/day, but at the highest level of infusion (43.7 g N/day) it was equal to or greater than the control value. Rumen pH and VFA concentrations were not affected by the urea infusions. Rumen ammonia increased rapidly with increased infusion level at the lower levels of infusion but, at the higher levels of infusion, it increased only slightly or not at all.

Effect of Dietary Crude Protein Level on UT-B Expression and Nitrogen Efficiency in Growing Baluchi Male Lambs Fed Low or High Concentrate Diets
An experiment was carried out to evaluate how interactions between forage to concentrate ratio and dietary crude protein level may alter nitrogen efficiency and UT-B expression in growing Baluchi male lambs. Four Baluchi male lambs [30 ± 2 kg BW] were used in a 4 × 4 latin square design with 28-d periods and a 2 × 2 factorial arrangement of dietary treatments. The treatments fed forage: concent...

Six sheep fitted with ruminal fistulas were used in a repeated measurement design with two 24-d periods to investigate the effect of adding a specific mixture of essential oils (MEO) at 0 (control), 0.8 and 1.6 ml/d on apparent nutrient digestibility, rumen fermentation characteristics, rumen microbial population and blood chemical metabolites. Animals were fed with a 50:50 alfalfa hay: concent...
متن کاملEffect of precision feeding high- and low-quality forage with different rumen protein degradability levels on nutrient utilization by dairy heifers.
One approach to improving efficiency of protein and nitrogen use for optimal productivity in dairy heifers is to provide adequate levels of protein with differing rumen degradabilities. The objective of this experiment was to determine effects of manipulating RDP in diets of dairy heifers precision fed low- and high-quality forage. Eight rumen-cannulated Holstein heifers (448 ± 19 kg BW) were r...
متن کاملEffect of salinomycin level on nutrient digestibility and ruminal characteristics of sheep and feedlot performance of cattle.
A sheep digestion trial and two feedlot trials with cattle were conducted to study effects of an ionophore, salinomycin, on nutrient digestibility, ruminal metabolism and cattle performance. In trial 1, addition of salinomycin at 5.5, 11 or 22 ppm to 60% concentrate diets fed to ruminal-cannulated rams had no effect (P greater than .05) on apparent digestibility of dry matter (DM), organic matt...

This research was conducted to investigate the effects of feeding of barley grain (whole or cracked) combined with two different protein sources (urea or soybean meal) on nutrients digestibility and rumen parameters (pH and ammonia concentration). Four rumen fistultated Mehraban sheep was used that the mean body weight of sheep was 36.5±0.5 kg. The the experiment was conducted in change over de...
